The International
Federation of Bioethics Centres and Institutes of Personalist Inspiration (FIBIP),
located in Rome, at the Bioethics Centre of the Catholic University of the Sacred
Heart, arises from the awareness that all decisions and guidelines appearing
in the ever-progressing domain of biomedical sciences and its innovative applications,
will play a decisive role in the future of mankind; also putting at the center
of every kind of scientific and cultural advance, an inviolable value, namely
the pursuit of the common sake trough the promotion of the sake of the human
person, from conception until death, unifying, on the other hand, intelligences
and efforts in order to define in every situation all those values that can
contribute towards realizing an authentic progress.
In the situation of Pluralism, checkable in the International bioethics survey,
the reflection upon the value of the human person in all its existential conditions
is warranted by human reason and can receive a decisive contribution from the
Christian-Judaic tradition, the Catholic Church Teaching and the great ethnic
cultural traditions, as well as from traditional religions.
Moreover, it is thought that human reason is adequately able to understand the
truth of man and substantially opened to Transcendence.
The FIBIP wants to activate the cooperation in identifying and thoroughly analysing important bioethics issues, such as health aid for developing countries and right to cure for all those persons threatened by weakness, handicap, poverty and underdevelopment; it is also aimed at assuming and promoting from the epistemological point of view, the engagement to analyse in depth the scientific datum with the utmost respect for the peculiar physiognomy of all disciplines questioned by Bioethics, improving the exchange between different disciplines in a full integration and global harmony perspective concerning all aspects and values related with man, society and environment and paying attention to future generations needs.
